I don't want this to turn into a political thread that ends up getting locked. I have seen a few posts that have discussed oil production and have seen multiple errors or maybe at least assumptions when it comes to what oil supplies we have left in the Middle East. If you have any real interest in this subject or would just be curious as to how the Middle East oil production works please consider checking out the following book from your library or going to the book store and picking it up.

Twilight in the Desert by Matt Simmons

Enjoy the read! Does anyone have any other book suggestion that covers the oil supply and resulting pricing crisis?

Re: A fantastic Book to better help understand oil supplies and production

Using over two hundred technical papers published over the last twenty years that detail problems with individual wells and fields, Simmons provides a field-by-field assessment of the key Saudi oilfields, and shows the many discrepancies between their actual production potential and optimistic Saudi claims about their future. The Saudis are still pumping the vast majority of their oil from the same few oilfields that have always accounted for the vast majority of their output, and as Simmons analysis shows, these mature super fields are on the verge of rapid decline.

Rigged: The True Story of an Ivy League Kid Who Changed the World of Oil, From Wall Street to Dubai, By Ben Mezrich, Morrow

A good book about the oil futures market.
