hi<br /> i have a 1986 evinrude 50 hp <br />how do i sync and link? do i put the idle screw all the way in before synchrinizing it. there is <br />black build up on the the very begining of the electoid of the spark plug near the theads the rest of the plug looks good <br />the fuel line will not stay primed and the motor is knocking with rpms constant <br />would carbon build up,air in fuel line or bad sync cause knocking

ICON JON HERTZ <br /><br />First of all, you will need a Manual to do the lync and sync. If you mean that the bulb will not firm up when you pump it before starting the motor, Your problem may be related to a float needle not totally seating properly or a air leak in the fuel connections. Could also be a bad bulb(Likely), especially if it's an off brand(Not OMC). Can you describe the knocking in further detail? Hard, soft, at all RPM's?

hey <br />it knocks with the rpms. the higher the rpms the the faster the knock <br />the new bulb get hard but only for a few seconds it run good just knocks i have a manual its not clear on sync or if the idle screw should <br />be all the way in or out or it dont matter <br />i did carb rebuild and fuelpump and i think it started knocking after that it was failing plugs <br />but i got that to stop thats why i asked about carbon build up

ICON JON HERTZ <br />If there is enuf carbon biult up for the clearance to be gone it could knock. I would pull the heads if you think this is the case and clean as much carbon out as you can, then do a decarb treatment.<br />Richard

its a soft vibration like knock. it taped real loud it sezed for a little while then ran fine <br />but now has a tap it had a bad fuel pump at this time i changed the fuel pump and it run good with the tap
