Re: A search suggestion...

Awesome. Usually January seems to last forever. Ya know, I think we broke another rule(or at least 1 rule I know we broke), we hijacked the OPs thread.

If there are improvements that could be made to the software that runs the forum, the MODS and ADMINS have always (in my experience) been more than willing to advance them. I've sent in at least 4, one of which was really just thinly-veiled stupidity.......two were OK ideas , but impractical :p, and one is now in place , I think it is a great addition, and may well have been suggested by 1/2 dozen or more others.

As far as the OP's suggestion, if we are going to discuss it in open forum, even if against the rules, fine....but it is impractical and makes no sense, for several reasons. but first, foremost, and really all that is needed, is that there is absolutely ZERO net benefit and some cost.
I can use GOOGLE's search engine as it is now to find iBoats posts perfectly easily, and do so often.
GOOGLE search engine is up in the top right corner of every Forum page that opens in my browser. If i want to "GOOGLE" something, I can do it faster than I could access the same function if it were embedded in the forum utilities as it stands?
Why should iBoats pay staff or a developer to incorporate a third party tool that is so readily accessible and usable?

As a tech tip or suggestion to enhance forum users utility...."hey guys, have you tried using Google as a supplement to the forum search function" that would make great sense and be "within the forum rules".

Some people I guess just like a wider scope of affirmation.

Wimusk, what do you mean we. Reading back through it you did it. I'm just an innocent bystander that flies the American flag.
