Re: A very sad day for me

I'm very poor too, but thats when I lifted my spirits by finding an almost free glastron, worked on it as I could with stuff I had around the house, most was already there (sandpaper, tools) and most early work was just work. I did scrape together funds to get big ticket items as I felt a bit more secure (but not much). The boat actually saved me from worse depression. Imagine that. Good luck but things always work out.

Tubingluvr, believe me I know where you're coming from. Last year we faced some tough times in our house due to money issues and I considered selling my truck and boat. But the reality of the situation was, I wasn't going to get enough for it to make much of a difference for us and it would kinda be cutting off my nose to spite my face. I got a new job in December and things have really turned around for us. I am sure am glad I didn't sell the boat. Since your boat is the exact model you want, think long and hard about whether the benefits are worth the sacrifice. Good luck with everything. There's a lot of older guys in property management so I'm sure there are retirements happening all over and since you're willing to locate I'm sure you'll find something.

Sorry to hear about it, man. Fellow Michigander here-- my pay was cut 20% almost a year ago (I work for a very forward thinking company ). It's been really tough for us too, and I thought about selling the boat last spring. But like ezmobee, we really wouldn't have gotten much for my old 38 year old boat and motor.

Hope things turn around for you! I hope things turn around for MICHIGAN.

I currently have applied for 4 positions in Florida and have my resume posted on the state job sites (similiar to michigan works) in florida and wyoming.
I read today the number one spot in the nation to look for a job right now is DC they average 6 openings for every person seeking work.
What hit us so hard is the fact that we had been in a Chapter 13 for 2 years before the economy collapsed.
When my pay was cut, after I made the Chapter 13 payment I had $40 or less left out of my weekly paycheck.
Needless to say we had to cancel the Chapter 13, and upon doing so found out all bills that were current when we filed became dangerously dilinquent when in Chapter 13.

Very sad day here in Central Michigan.
I had to put the boat up for sale thanks to the wonderful economy.
Received a 20% cut in pay a couple months ago and we just keep sliding backwards.
I had been waiting years for a small carlson and when I finally get it, I have to sell it.
I think I'll go cry in my beer now.

Sorry didn't mean to bring you down, hope your day was much better.

i know this sounds hard but were your at isn't even worth mentioning.
it can be so bad that hell would be a relief.
you can recover from anything or be weak.

Re: A very sad day for me

I agree with not selling the boat, I also worked on the river for 5 1/2 years, worked 42-45 days straight with out a day off and then went back home for 2 weeks and then got back on for 42-45 days for 5 1/2 years I did this, My point being: Could you go to work in dc and go home when you made enough money or if some one local finally calls with a job opening?? If you worked there until something opens up at home at least the bills would get paid until things get better. I was looking at help wanted ads for Tree climbers for over the winter and in california there was an opening for $200 a day, I am thinking about it seriously and might do it over the winter until next season, Wife would stay here and everything, It would just be me going until spring. That's what I do now, I climb and cut trees. Just a thought.
