recently overhauled an A1/G2 drive gearcase. All new bearings & seals. I noticed today that when I put my drive into gear or in neutral it makes a slight whine/howl type noise. It will increase in tone as the rpm increases and then seems to disappear after 11oo rpm or so. Or at least I can't hear it over the engine. I do know that a .005 shim was added to the forward gear as the backlash was on the high end of the spec. After the shim it was at the lower end of the spec .019" dry. Could this cause the whine? Nothing was done to the upper and the noise was not there before the overhaul...any ideas?
