Hello all. I am about to take on the adventure of installing my captains call corsa exhaust on my Searay. Just trying to get the balls to cut two giant holes in the hull. Going thru the transom not side exit. Anyone have any advice or tips on getting the angles and holes right? Seems pretty straight forward. But just figured I have you guys at my finger tips and usually get some great guidance here. So why not ask for this too. Thank you.

Bondo is right. I do allot of wood working when its not boating season. Wood can be unbelievably expensive. Measure, then measure again, then measure your marks one more time then cut. Some times I have measured, marked and came back a few hours later to make sure that what I was doing still made sense.

I put thru-hull exhaust on my previous 20' Searay Bowrider 305/228hpV8 and temp mounted the risers, then with a straightedge measured at 4 points, & marked, then cut the 4" hose to length, and put it on, to double check my marks (talk about being paranoid). Finally started the holes with a 1/4" pilot hole from the inside, then finished the 4" holes from the outside.

I then also did this on my next 24' Searay Cuddy with a 350/260hp Mercruiser. But, I used solid rubber Salisbury marine mufflers on this boat, it mellowed the 350 down to sounding like glass packs. :) I used the same procedure on this, plus instead of 4" exhaust hose, I used the 4"x24" long mufflers as a guide. My advice is measure, measure, measure, then just do it! :)

Haha. Yeah, when I did the under water LED lights I measured probably 42x before I drilled. And that was just a 1/4 in hole. But now a 4.25 inch hole is a whole new fear. Yes I was going to temp mount the diverters and use the straight edge method. Mark the center and drill the pilot hole from the inside first then the hole saw from the outside. So good to see my idea was not far off from those already done with their exhaust. Now did you have to reroute any wiring or move anything inside the boat? My halon extinguisher is right in the way of the port side riser.... And the main wiring harness is in the way of the starboard

As you walk up to the boat with the drill and big 'ol hole saw your anus is gonna pucker up and remain that way for 3 days. I suggest loading up on laxatives. Even if it turns out you don't need them you can always have a colonscopy scheduled just in case. I tell you what you want to talk about puckering up try removing a trailer from under a boat by using jacks and wood blocks.

Yeah.... Did that with my House boat. Even worse pucker is when you are using a jack to raise up over the blocks so you can bottom paint the spot where the blocks are.... And then you accidentally knock the blocks over.... You think the boat is coming down on you
