The 2012 MFS25BEPTS is $4099.99. The installation on a remote model is considered permanent...But, of course it isn't. You can always take out the bolts and take everything off, put it on a merry go round for an hour and then re-install it yourself. The 25 and 30 are designed for through bolt mounting so holes will be drilled.

Doctide

If you were going for a 30 HP, why would you want a 25 HP ? Probably converting a 25 into a 30 HP is cheaper that buying a factory 30, the gurus should know what to change and the conversion cost...

It would cost more than a grand to convert a 25 into a 30.

Personally investing that much money in boat/console/cables, etc, would go straight for the 30 HP model as it could be placed on a larger future boat. Thought that 4 strokes model were near compatible as old 2 strokes conversions between close models , but ECU issue changes all perspectives...

You could play being "electronic engineer" with old ECU...

Just to be sure I dont mess this up, does it matter the steering cable type? Would a Uflex Rotary Steering System work? How about a Teleflex SS137 Rotary system? Going to buy this today and get my console finished ASAP.

The steering cable end has a shaft & end hole where you need to secure a drag link to turn motor + other remote hardware, kit should come with remote engine model and should fit any other brands steering cable end hole. Could place any of them, both are lock to lock systems. It's a personal decision. Both steering brands cable ends/holes should be standard to place different engine brands.

Don't hurry, first install console where you want it placed, then measure the amount of cable needed from wheel helm to motor, and remote to motor, as both must be ordered by cable lenght. Check installation diagram.

What he said:) Teleflex is well know, but Uflex is not that unusual. Close your eyes and toss a dart.

Since Tohatsu requires that Remoto motors be installed by a dealer, this should not be a factor, though it's not a problem if the owner wants to install the helm ahead of time. That could save a few dollars, as well as get what the owner wants in the helm and console installation.

For center console could add some important basic gauges as : tachometer, amperimeter, hourmeter, magnetic compas or add a stand/craddle to place a GPS, will need to drill perfect round holes to install. Great homework, but time demanding if doing with inappropriate required drilling tools.
