Acceleration Issue....stumped.

I have a 2009 Rinker Captiva 226 XL. It has a Mercruiser 350 Mag (Serial number 1A055008). Boat starts and idles fine. No issues detected. The problem I am having is when I go full throttle it will stall / stop at 3000 RPM, and the boat will only go at a slow crawl. The speedometer will not register when it does this. It does not do this all the time. Sometimes it appears to run fine, although the top speed has been at about 35mph (it's normally capable of 45-50mph). I can go a full day on the water without any problems somedays, and somedays it has this issue out of the gates. Sometimes, it will run fine, and then I will run into this issue after I shut off the boat and then start it up again. The last time it did it, it did well on initial acceleration, and then after about 5 minutes, I lost acceleration and I limped back to the dock.
I get surges every now and again. If I hold it at full throttle when it does this, I can sometimes feel it build, the speedometer will slowly start to register, then it will take off on me and run normally.

Fuel filters were changed before this season. I put on a new TPS (throttle position sensor), thinking that was my problem, but that didn't fix it. I read a similar post with almost the exact same description, and it turned out to be a prop issue with that gentleman's Rinker.

Ideas?

If this only happens after the motor is hot and you stop for a while, it could be vapor lock. But with it not coming out of it by getting the rpms up then I would lean toward fuel pressure. The EFI motors could also be throwing codes and it would need to be scanned to see if any show up.

Do you have an Alpha or Bravo drive?

To check fuel pressure you will need an adapter 91-806901 to place in the fuel line.

It's an Alpha drive.

That's what has me stumped. Sometimes it happens on the first time out, sometimes it happens after running for a while and starting again, sometimes it doesn't happen at all. The last time it decreased speed on me while cruising in open water.

Thank you for the feedback!
