Acceleration problem

I have a 1996 Glastron GS 205, with the Alpha One Gen II, 5.7. The 1st problem, is I'm not getting 12 volts, to the coil. I've run a wire, to the coil, from the battery via a switch, up by the console. The 2nd issue is the motor "falls on its face" when the RPM's go over 3000. I have changed the gas filter, and the carburetor, but nothing is working, to correct the problem. I've been told that it might be the Neutral Saftey Switch, but have no idea where to go from here. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Check the anti-siphon valve coming off your tank, thats what it was for me when I had the same issue years ago. Ball would get stuck with the increased fuel flow

most likely the carb is dirty and needs to be pulled apart

its not the neutral safety switch, that only disables the starter. the shift interrupt switch only comes into play when coming back to neutral

your issue is fuel system related.

2Xs with Jon & Scott, also the suction tube in the tank may have a small screen in it which should be removed and not reinstalled. A good time to replace the fuel hose also.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... Sounds like the 1st problem might be corrosion,...
Somewhere 'tween the battery, key switch, 'n the motor,.....

2nd problem, could possibly be the shift switch/ cables,..... not the neutral safety switch,....
A failin' lower shift cable can do funny things to that switch, at funny times, sometimes,....

You wouldn't happen to have a pic of the valve, would you ?

It is going to look like a standard hose barb fitting with a 1/4” npt screwed into the tank fitting. If it is made of aluminum then you should change it to a brass one. Also you should unscrew the tank fitting to check if there is a small filter in the suction tube.
