Howdy,

I have a 1984 120 mercruiser w/ a rochester 2bbl. carb. The accelerator pump does not seem to be working. How hard is this to replace? Do I need a whole rebuild kit, or can I just replace the pump? Thanks!

Re: Accelerator pump

I agree, if your acclerator pump is shot, it is probably rebuild time anyway. I have not rebuilt your carb, but have rebuilt many others and they are easy, just take your time, clean everything well, and put them back where they came from.

Have a great day,

Rob.

Re: Accelerator pump

i would rebuild the whole thing

Any idea how tough this is? I'm moderately mechanically inclined. I also have a mercruiser manual coming. Is this procedure outlined in that? Lastly, any pitfalls I should look out for when doing this? Thanks!

Re: Accelerator pump

I sure hope you orderd a Mercruiser OEM manual and not a Seloc or Clymers.
You need manual #3 from Merc.

Yup! Ordered it about a day after I found this site! Unfortunately I bought the Clymers POS before I knew any better. DOH!
