Re: Actual hull weight of 22' starcraft

Thanks for all the responses especially Nomrwrk for the specific hull weight from the brochure. So what I have is hull 1640,honda ob 400,
gas 350,batteries 100, gear etc 250 and a kicker 60. Total weight 2800lbs. I am considering big single axles and tandem trailers. Sounds like a single is doable especially since I usually gas the rig up near the ramp. I know a tandem rides smoother but weighs about 500 lbs more and needs more room to turn. I pull with a fullsize truck and was hoping for a trailer with no brakes. Load under 3000 lbs here in Va brakes not required. Brakes and saltwater no likey.

My boat sits on a heavy duty, single axle, bolted boxed frame steel trailer from the 1980's. It weighs 1,000 lbs and is carrying 3,300 lbs - 4,300 lbs total weight boat and trailer - very close to elkhunter's boat. I have 15 inch radial tires rated for 2,800 lbs each tire at 80 psi. It also has surge brakes that are from the 1990's. It has seen a lot of saltwater, but I wash down the boat and trailer religiously. It may not look pretty, but it works like a champ.

Well I scored an excellent....drumroll....tandem axle galvanized trailer yesterday needs fenders and an actuator but otherwise is in excellent shape and has torsion bar suspension. Yeah no springs or hardware to rust and rattle. Best part only $400 and it was less than 5 miles from where I picked up a stainless bimini top for $100. Knock on aluminum I am on a roll.

bottom feedin like a veritable CATFISH, he is. :D good scores. i really like the SS frame on my Holiner bimini....sturdy enough you can actually use it for a grab rail if you beef the area under where you install the bases on the gunwales

that just makes you not a highwayman; it doesn't get you out of bottom feeder status. around here, we consider "bottom feeder" to be a term of honor and respect, which is how i meant it....in fact, there's been discussion of a "bottom feeder of the year" award. the "pelagics" are all out buying new $50K boats on a 10 year note.....

would you like to hear my rant on why you should never throw away old nylon seat belt webbing or tangled Spectra braid line (someday, you'll WANT 50# test sewing thread....)?? :D
