I am in the process of refitting my 1995 21.5 ft CC Kencraft with a new 250 four-stroke Suzuki. I'm past all the issues about hole-shot, torque, etc. The independant reports show it is equal or better than a comparable 2 stroke. I've talked to owners who rave about how great they are.

My main concern is the weight difference between the older Johnson and the new Suzuki. It's about 100 lbs after I remove the no longer needed oil tank. The boat has a cut out transom (no bracket). I've been told that this will allow the boat to handle a heavier motor. But I'd like to hear from someone who has actually increased the engine weight. I know all boats are a little different.

Has anyone had a similiar situation moving to a heavier engine on a open transom and have you had any problem with wash over the transom? Will ~100lbs really make much of a difference?

My 4-stroke is about 100# heaver than the 2-stroke it replaced and the extra weight isn't a problem on my 18.5' cuddy with a transom like your's. You are gonna love your new motor
