Re: Adding an axel to my pontoon trailer

Thank you guys for all of the help. I took those pictures this morning and that was the first time sense i bought it (a few months ago) that iv seen how flat the springs were. When i trailer it, it is extremely tippy and is frightening pulling it for more than 10 miles. Once spring comes around I will list the trailer on craigs list and try to offset what I will be paying for a new one. Any suggestions on brand or style?

I just bought a 21' pontoon with a tandem axle trailer and it has brakes. Yours looks like its closer to 24'?

I just noticed your first pic.... I overlooked it before... that looks like a monster of a toon for that one little axle... looks to me like the axle is too far forward also... I bet the tonge weight is way low causing a great deal of the instability you are dealing with...

I also got to thinking, if you have any water in the toons it will add to your problems especially if they are older un-baffled toons.

I'm leaning toward needing a bigger wagon BUT I'd still (CAREFULLY) head for the scales to be certain what I was working with

btw nothing wrong with the toons hanging...

And normally any thing over a 20 footer is on a tandem trailer with breaks.

The Wolverines are not a bad value for the money. I used to sell them. The spring axles are not as stable as torsion. But it should be better than your current set up. Might be worth checking the Triton scissor lift trailers for comparison. Torsion axles are standard, on the Triton, and make for a more stable tow.
