I have T-200 Yamaha 4-Strokes and recently had a warranty repair in which one of the Yamaha hour meters/tach was replaced.

Now I have one engine tach showing 87 hours and the other showing 0. I want to even the two engine hour meters to both show 87 hours. So far I've had no luck.

There's 3 main wires controlling the hours: green, yellow, black. I've removed the hour/tach meter and put the black onto a battery negative & the yellow onto the battery positive. I then hooked the green onto the positive wire of a trolling motor and then ran it...no luck.

I've also heard that you can hook it onto to a battery charger and a battery to run up the hours, but I haven't had any luck with this either.

My dealer has offered no help in the matter.

ANY IDEAS????

Re: Adding Hours To Yamaha Hour Meter

you may have destroyed the meter.
the meter will only run if the black is grounded and the yellow has 12vdc + AND the green lead has a tach signal.
prevents racking up hours with the key left on.
maybe ya got lucky though. time will tell.
seems you may wish to find a dealer that knows how things work. or he may be wise. never know.
