This is what I'm looking at-anyone used one? I'm thinking it'd be a good move on the RIB as in rough weather holeshot and no cavitation is a lot more important than WOT RPM as I need to empty my flooding ballast area of my hull fast and I won't be using anywhere near WOT in 8'+ seas

Those props have been around for a while and were never very popular. I think it probably takes less time to swap between two propellers than it would take to adjust the pitch on this single one.

BTW, our local Volvo dealer just had a clearance sale on these...

Yeah Volvo make them too-called QM. The big deal is really that I don't want to have to pay a fortune for a couple more props-or carry them 'just in case'.

Just a follow-up. I found this link at Volvo's site where they've tested their QL prop against a beat-up alu prop. Even though they try to present it positively, it is also revealed that their QL prop had a slip rate of 13% and the original alu prop only 6%... if you can believe that.Link

Also found two other interesting articles. The first one, in Swedish, is unbiased yet positive to the prop, but states that you have to take the prop off in order to do the adjustment. link

This other article is a quite extensive review: link

There are also several reviews from different boating magazines at their homepage: link

All in all, it's probably an OK prop. It won't have quite the performance of a highly tuned SS prop but it will probably do you just fine. In addition you'll have the flexibility to vary the pitch according to the need that day.

I have a propulse and I guess it does was it is supposed to do. It's a spare so I don't use it much. Maybe with a bunch of people & tubing. It does get the boat moving real good only because it's way under pitched for my set up. There is no top end on my boat when using it. It sure will pull a tuber though. My normal prop is a 19" SS prop & the propulse only goes to 16".
