whats the best way to adjust the carbs on a 1996 evin 200 hp,,,I have the manual and it talks about one carb but do i make the 1/8th turn adjustments on that one mixture screw or to all 6 of them and then wait to see is the engine changes. is there a better way like a guage to get them even or by ear?? I know the manual talks abouit 5 turns out I have done that and did a liitle adjustment to where the engine seems to be ok but to fine tune it is there another way? thanks.

Re: adjusting all six carbs

Each screw affects one cylinder so moveing all six you will chase your tail forever. Do one at a time Turn in 'til the engine gags, then back out until it gags, the best setting is somewhere inbetween the two. Do that on all six, then repeat the entire process. You MUST do this in the water as there is no exhaust back pressure when running on muffs. Idle speed may rise as you make these adjustments so keep backing it down and readjusting mixture until you are at spec. Be patient and methodical.

thanks for the info I took it out yesterday and it seemed to run pretty good at WOT and at idle I did notice that when I start it it smokes for a few seconds then clears this happens each and everytime I start it,,is this normal? or am i still running to lean?

If it smokes a lot you are running rich, not lean. Cold carbureted two-strokes do smoke a little until warmed up. Since we can't see your engine its anyones guess what "too much" is. Idle mixture settings have no affect on WOT. They do affect idle quality and throttle response on the low end.

thanks my engine will smoke even after the engine is warm I shut it down for a second then start it right up and smoke,,,it clears within 5 seconds so is it fair to say that im running still a little rich and should turn the screws all 6 carbs<br />clockwise? 1/8th at a time...it does idle nice no coughing sneezing stalling etc..plugs look a little wet ad oily when warm ,,starts fine
