1978 70Hp Johnson, Has three Carbs, I broke the carbs down to soak them overnight I'm having trouble putting the choke linkage back on correctly. The top and middle carbs move freely with linkage attached, once I attach linkage from middle carb to bottom carb the butterflies do not open easy enough for the choke solenoid to push the butterflies open and closed. For some reason there is some kind of binding happening once the linkage is attached to the bottom carb, but the bottom carb does open and close by hand just as easy as the other three without the linkage attached. I have tried what the manual says, close all carbs then attach the adjusting screws but this hasn't worked.
Any ideas?

Ya didn't get the top and bottom carbs mixed up did ya????
Does the linkage have a nylon insert in the throttle arm it snaps into?
Is the solenoid properly positioned in the bracket?

Did carb cleaning solution get on the plastic choke linkage retainer? If so, it probably swelled up and is sticking when the link is installed.
