Hi, first of all sorry if I posted on the wrong area but the moderators can move the thread to the correct one.

I want to buy a bass boat, I found a deal for $4,000 its a Nitro bass boat 1994 and the model is 2000TF. When the mechanics checked it 2 of the pistons gave a low compression readout. On had 80 and the other 60! I don?t know about motors and it will be my first boat. I liked the boat, the rest of the things worked well and it looks in good condition!

Do you recomend me buying it and repair it? Or do you think that I wall have problems with this motor? Its a Mercury 175HP. Or I better stay away from it? Is it expensive to repair that?

Thank you for your advice

Regards

You might ask the mechanics what they would charge you to rebuild it. It will be ~$400 in parts and machine shop work plus labor. Some of the Merc V6s were chrome bores, which could not be bored. You probably need to find out if yours is cast iron or chrome.
