Advice on color bottom machines needed

I am in the market for a new color fishfinder/sounder. It will be used in saltwater out to about 100' or a little deeper. I am considering the Raymarine DS600SX or the Furuno FCV600L. They are comparable in price. Furuno has a great reputation and the Raymarine uses new technology and has more power. Has anyone had experience with these machines and what do you think?

Funny, those are the two I went to the boat show last winter to look at. I was planning to purchase the Furuno, but the Furuno guys didn't want to make the sale. Even after I told them I had a t-top with curtains. Why they told me it wasn't very "daylight viewable" unless you were looking at it dead on. So I decided to go with the Raymarine, and the newer technology, but they weren't in yet. Ended up buying an inflateable, and a motor, STILL NEED/WANT A FISHFINDER! My vote is for the Raymarine if you fish in the daytime.....

LS- Now that you mention it the Raymarine does seem a lot brighter than the Furuno. Reviews have been good on the Raymarine by sportswriters but can't find anyone that has experience with one. Thanks for sharing what you know. I am leaning toward the Raymarine.

I have a couple posts in this forum asking the same question, and there wasn't much of a response. There's a couple of Furuno fans here, but where the Raymarine is new, and cost's a few bucks, maybe there's not too many owners of them here yet. A lot of trailer boat/ small boat owners here, and that could be a little overkill for a small boat. But I say go for it! And good luck!<br /><br />And yes, the Furuno salesmen came right out and told me it wasn't very "daylight viewable". Not the sales pitch I was expecting.......
