Finally got it in the water yesterday. 4 ft seas greeted us. Lots of fun. If it wasn't for you guys
it wouldn't have been possible.(no not the waves just being there !) Many thanks. Only two issues left
maybe these will be easier than the last ones.

1. After running for about 2 hours pulled into a sheltered area and idled in a tight circle while checking
the engine etc. When I turned full left / right I got a clicking noise. Would not go away if I turned
the other direction. Would go away if I straightened out and put cycled from forward to neutral then forward/neutral.
Same with reverse.. reverse neutral then forward/reverse.

2. When battling the waves I went from half throttle (2000rpm) to full and the engine went back to idle.
Pull the throttle back and the engine went back up to (2000rpm). I am going to run it up on the trailer
and check it out first. Seems like the throttle goes over center and goes the other way. Doesn't stall tho.

Thanks again for all the help.

Ayuh,.... #1, sounds like the U-joints are worn...

#2, sounds like it might be a Controller issue...

#1 The drive shaft is totally rebuilt. new u-joints. Any way of checking them short of pulling the outdrive ?
Wouldn't I have heard it going straight with slight trim ?

#2. Probably right. Will check it this morning.

Is there any way to check the U-Joints without pulling the outdrive ?
Wonder if it clicks with the outdrive trimmed up. Can I rev the engine and tilt it
with muffs on ? Someone said it would tear up the pump impeller

#2
Wondering if the engine is leaning out at high RPMs. One would think it
would backfire or something.

Why do they complicate the ignition on these things ?(thunderbolt IV)
All they need is a vacume port advance and a pertronix insert. Can I do this
and trash the current setup ? How about an HEI distributor from a truck ?
