I took my boat out yesterday, and after about a minute or so of running the alarm would sound and shut off my engine. The engine is a 1988 140hp johnson. It started up again a few times, but it would do the same thing. Is it overheating or what? Also, I removed the VRO tank and am mixing my own gas, is there anything there that would set off the alarm? I was thinking it wasnt getting enough fuel because the primer bulb wasnt very hard. Also, I could keep it running if I lifted the rev lever on my controls, but obviously I couldn't throttle forward with the lever lifted. Any ideas?

constant beep is over heating.... when was last time the water pump was changed? thermostats? cant remember or 1 year ago or so its time to change...

Continuous short beeps is a no oil alarm compared to short beeps every 20 to 40 seconds for low oil.

after you start the motor primer bulb should be soft.. its normal.. as long as its not collapsed... if it collapses theres obviously an air restriction posible tank not beign vented...

good luck

ohh yeah Go EAGLES

I'll check water pump and thermostats. It was a continuous beeping.
