As usual I'm looking for any advice, on batteries. I've read too much and now I don't know what I read...been to sears twice to buy a couple but just can't pull the trigger. I'm looking for any credible evidence that agm batteries are what I need for trolling. I will have 2 for deep cycle and one for starting. Got the cranking battery out of the way and now just want the best deep cycle. Money is no issue I just want some facts... but I'll settle for opinions :p
There may not be much I will hear that I haven't read but a good technical research link would be superb.
Sears has one of the best warranties but I'm not so sure the specs are up to par with others. Some say get the biggest Amp rating, others say its all about the reserve capacity. What say ye?

Re: All aboard!!

AGM's are by far your best choice. My best freind owns a large battery shop that dose a huge business and it is all he recommends. If you know of or have a lsrge battery shop you deal with go see them. My friend does all the replacement on back up power for hospitals, old folks home and the like. These facilities have battery banks, "AGM" that have to be replaced in specific intervals, in Canada every three years, the batteries are rated as a ten year battery. When he quotes the replacement he includes the old batteries as scrap, then will sell them to those in the know. The retail on these new is $350 to $425 each and he will sell them for $60.00. The ones I have in my fifth wheel weigh 118lb each and will power it for a week at the lake and come home with 12.6 volts. The two I had in my last boat weighed 75 lb each and would run my PD 55 and accessories for ever. The latter I had in the boat for four years with out a problem. The other plus is you can mount them in any position, on there side, end or even upside down. Look into it you may get great batteries at a bargain price.
