Pretty new to iBoats and the boat in question. Bought it last Fall, ran a handful of times. My buddy took it to his pole barn to winterize and store. Not sure what happened, but when I went to pick it up today he had a pan under my Alpha 1 lower unit. I was very sad to see that. I asked him what's going on and he said he wasn't sure what was happening. It looks like a good quart of oil like fluid has leaked. It was dripping from the front of the lower unit with it trimmed up. I would assume it's somehow lower unit oil. Chances are I'll take it in to get looked at. I just don't know anything about I/Os and wanted to see if anyone had any ideas.

Regarding the winterization : To my knowledge my friend drained the water from the motor itself but did not do anything with the lower unit. After this whether he did something wrong or not I'll probably start having it winterized professionally, but I wonder if he didn't do something right.

Thoughts?

So I got under my engine cover today. After watching some videos I thought I might know what to look for. On the forward port side of my engine is a "gear oil" resivoir which is empty. So I assume that is the place to add what is leaking out. yesterday I couldn't tell where it was coming from. Today it seems there might be some coming from what I assume is the "weep holes"? Several tiny holes in a line near the bottom of the lower unit on the side. So does that mean I probably have a seal inside down there blown? Is this an easy fix? I just called a place in town and based on their rough quote it sounds like I'd be in the couple to few hundred ball park to have it looked at and fixed... Not sure if I dare attempt or just bite the bullet and pay them to figure it out...

most likely is a seal you have to determine which one. carrier seal on the input shaft in the upper unit , driveshaft seals in the upper unit, shift shaft seal in the lower unit, water pump base seals(Alpha) driveshaft seal (GEN II)

::nods:: It's going to the shop on Monday. I'm just going to pay to have it done. I'm into boating, not wrenching...
