alpha 1 shift cable kit question

does anyone know where the small black insert that comes with the merc shift cable kit goes 86 alpha 1 thanks

It is a grommet that goes in the inside of the transom assembly - from inside the boat - where the cable goes through.

If your old one is still there I wouldn't bother replacing it unless it is worn out (not likely).
