I know this doesn't look very good but do you think this would be alright to use for a season until i get a new one??? It is pretty badly gone but not to the point where the bellows don't seal, and it isn't porous. This was caused by someone who should'nt have ever had a boat, and had no idea!!! Stored with outdrive up and cracked bellows but kept running it!!!! You should have seen the gimbal housing!!!!!! (Its been replaced) What do you guys think??

Ayuh,....

Do you think you could resize that Down a size or 2,..??

If you can get a Good Seal, that doesn't leak,...... Run it...

Alittle build-up action with epoxy might Help...

It's gotta hold the tension of the big clamp,+ the pulling by the bellows, when raised.....

I've certainly seen worse here with the salt water... but as Bondo says, try and see if it will keep dry. I bet you will find it will work fine.

Usually, the part on the transom shield is worse than that of the bellhousing. Might have a close look at it too.

You mean the flat part where the O-ring sits??? Yeah its a mess as someone who owned this before me did'nt know what he was doing and started hammering different objects into the gap to try and remove the drive when the shaft was stuck in the gimbal bearing!!. He made a few gouges but nothing the gasket would'nt take up i think. I also dremeled off some high spots so im hoping its going to be alright, although one of his attempts did attack the O-ring groove, i may get away with it.

No, I'm referring to the section around the gimbal bearing where the bellows attaches.
