I just got done replacing my bellows, gimble bearing, and water pump. now im getting ready to put it all back together. my question is, would it be better to put the upper and lower halfs back together on my bench then mount it on the transom, or do the upper half on first and replace the lower half after that? OR does it really even matter, the thing is im doin this by myself so thats why i thought doing on half at a time. Thanks

Doesn't really matter. I usually put them all together on the bench because I find it easier to be sure the shafts and tubes and seals are all lined up that way, then install the drive as one unit. An Alpha is light enough that it's pretty easy to horse it around and line everything up.

Not unusual though to put the lower back on with the upper installed. That's what you'd be doing if you were just doing an impellor change.

No big deal either way, whatever makes you happiest!

I reassemble mine before re-installation, that way when it's on it's done....:D
