I have a 1999 Bayliner with a 3.0 and Alpha 1.

My questions...

1. I have a slight oil leak, (meaning i topped off the lube monitor in March and it was on the add line before I left to hit the lake on sunday. I topped it off and appears none has been lost. Can i keep an eye on it for the remainder of the season and then deal with it after the season?

2. I was going to pull the drive and check for oil in the bellows. If i do so will i need to realign with the tool? Just trying to determine if i need to order the alignment tool now.

3. Has any one built a stand to hold their stern drive while working on it that i could copy?

Thanks for all the help. You all make boating cheaper and more fun!!

1. Don't know. Maybe air was trapped??

2. Don't need the alignment tool just to remove and replace the outdrive. It is a good time to check the alignment however. And since you will eventually need it anyway, it is a good time to get one.

3. Many have built simple wooden stands - do a search and quite a few will come up.

Re: Alpha One Questions

You using it in fresh water or salt?

Fresh water won't hurt as mush as salt.

What you lose 4 or 5 ounces?

I remember someone did post a picture of a stand they built. I just use a vise.

In my own inexpert opinion i would wait till the end of the season and deal with it. 5 months and you had to add a little.
