The Pic you see is looking "up" into my upper unit. As you can see it's toast. I bought a complete Mallory upper seal kit from iboats and believe that this would be included. How is the best way to get this thing out and the new one in properly? Also...what IS the correct nomenclature of this seal anyhow?

Thanks

Drive shaft seal... In through the big exhaust hole at the front with a big screwdriver, flicks out really easy.... For replacing, the book calls for a 'special tool', it always does. I just put sealer (loctite master sealer) on the edge, lay it on the position and tap down on it with a flat driver slightly larger than the seal itself....

There is actually.. believe it or not, a tool named a seal puller. It was a little tight to get in there but that's what I've used. and tap the new one back in with 1/2" drive socket of the correct diameter as not to damage the rubber part of the seal. Can be rented from Auto Zone for free, or bought online for 10-15$

The pic attached has an adjustable head, they are also fixed, which is what I used.
