Alpha One Won't Trim Down - not electrical prob

I have an alpha one gen one outdrive that is stuck in the up position. When I try to trim down, the trim motor sounds like it is spinning freely, but the drive won't budge.

I've read that I can only check the trim oil level with the drive fully down...so how do I get it down?

Any ideas about what's wrong?

There is a manual release valve on the pump. open it and let the drive drain down. may need a little help. then give it a check.

Also if it all the way up, try using the tilt and not the trim.

The manual valve worked...and once it got down once, the up and down are both working well unless I get it all the way up again...probably just need to bleed the lines...thanks!
