Every day I get the chance to work on the boat, its like 96 with a feels-like temp of hell. I've given up on water and gone to diluted powerade and pickle juice intravenously.
Structure only puts me just under 2k. Add seats and mechanicals. Seems like an ok investment to me. Mechanicals require further review cause I could blow budget in a hurry . For 4k I can get a comparable size alum. Fish boat in my better shape. Decisions, decisions.
The 270 was used from 1975 to around 1985....so either ur boat is older then an early 90's like u noted, or its not the original drivetrain......the 290 was paired to the aq engines from 1985 up to 1992......the aq drives are good though, tough and easy to work on....
i don't have a title yet... thats another issue PO has to go through lost title and whatnot. but i confirmed it is a 270/2.1 so i guess it's older than i thought, is there any reason to steer clear of this based on that info??
This untitled Bayliner 270 is now a trailer donor.
Did the PO have trailer paperwork or is it in the same "safe" place as the missing boat paperwork? Depending on where you live, the trailer may be staying at the scrap yard with the boat.
No I have trailer ppwk just the boat was never planned to be revived so gotta get that. Getting a new title isn't hard it just takes FOREVER. I'm only concerned about the is it worth it factor on the non ppwk tangible aspect of the boat.
IIRC, The 270 drives were tilt only, the 270T and 280T added trim, but it didnt work well...all was worked out with the 290..the 270 drive itself isnt all that bad and parts are moslty ebay/CL....the 2.1l engine is ok, just not that powerful, the 2.3 was better.
got any pics of bayliner? trophys were a major step up from the run abouts. I am doing a trophy now and i was amazed at how well it was built in some areas however it wasn't built like a tank, the stringers were 99 % dry when i cut them out and no rot but transom was shot from a sinking. the transom housing had a hole in it i assume from sitting in the water without proper bonding. basically everything you have been told is kinda true about bayliners, the entry ski boats were worst for longevity, but also the folks who usually bought them probably had no clue how to take care of them properly or treated them as throw away boats.
I can snap pics I'm thinking I might do this just for the"fun" of it, some of the things I want to do with a boat might be considered blasphemy anyway so this "worthless" boat might be more suited to my needs
