I have a 165hp, in-line 6 Mercruiser and want to replace the alternator belt. I found a couple other posts about how to do it, but wasn't sure if those methods applied to my engine. I've attached a pic showing the two bolts on the port side I plan on removing, along with the block that looks like will be freed after removing the bolts. I'm worried if I do this, the engine will tilt to the port side. Will that happen? Should I support the engine before removing those bolts? Or am I way off in my approach?
Also, when I do replace it, should I just go to an automotive store for the belt? If I go to a marine parts supply, the price always seems to double because its a marine part.
Thanks
