Thought the battery switch was off.......not sure if the ignition switch was on.
While removing the wires I shorted out what I think was the "switched 12V".
Thought I heard what sounded like a breaker pop.
Proceeded to shut the battery switch off and complete the removal of the alt.

Any thoughts?

Will try to post some pics later.......

Check the 90 amp fuse which is mounted on the starter post, the orange wire should be connected to it

I shorted out the Red Wire w/ the 'S' on the terminal.
Verified ignition switch was off.
It's a Mando style Alternator.

Then you may have blown the 20 Amp fuse typically up near the key switch...Also check the 50 amp circuit breaker too.
This is the 1984 350 in your signature line correct?
How come you went ahead and cut the wires vs unbolting them? Unless you have other plans with the wiring, it seems you'd just be adding additional work/expense for yourself.

I cut the wires because the nuts holding the studs were turning.
I have a bad back and this reduces bending time!!!
