I have a 17' Smokercraft Fazer (aluminum boat). Is is safe or recommended to wax the painted and unpainted aluminum? Thanks.

Re: aluminum maintainence

I don't think I would wax raw aluminum as it probably won't stick and may go white over time.

The painted part is fine since it has been painted.

Aluminum is kinda funny like that, without correct priming it is impossible to get paint or anything else to stick to it.

If you want to bring back the shine on the raw metal use an ultra fine Scotch Brite pad following the grain of the metal, yes aluminum has a grain, look close and you will see it, the point is to get all the scratches going one way.

If you want it to stay looking nice forever look into a product called Shark Hide, it is a clear coat for aluminum and works really well.
