In this area for that amount of money you can get a lot more boat. She does look good.
Good luck

I am not trying to recoup, I would need 6k+ for that, I just want to sell it. I am not in a huge hurry though. I relisted it without all of the repairs; I just listed it as restored and in excellent condition, we'll see what happens.

I wish I had the Merc setup you have! I good luck on the sale! I know I wont have the 165 I have been restoring forever so I plan on giving it to my dad when I feel the time is right to move on for bigger and better things....that will make me feel good about it rather than think about selling something I poured your heart and soul into

No, to answer your question. If you don't sell it take all the pictures to the boat show and you will get that in trade in value. It will be easy for the boat sales people to re-sell your boat.

They have enough mark-up on the new one that they will work with you.

Has it sold? I'm not sure why no one has mentioned the economy. I have seen boats sitting on Craig?s list for over a year. Good boats at the right price with no buyers. Boating is definitely discretionary and discretionary spending isn't really in vogue right now.

If it hasn't sold yet don't worry it will, and at the price your asking when 2 things happen. 1st the economy has to improve and people need to go back to work. 2nd warm weather or the start of the boating season. Don't lower your price unless you really need to get out of it.

I hate to be a nay sayer, but NADA book has a average retail of about $2000 for your boat.
1987 GLASSPORT 165 RX
Even as nice as the condition is, you aren't likely to get double the book value.
At a max, that is maybe a $3000 boat. $2500-2750 is more reasonable.

Sorry.:(

I think that the market is telling you the price is too high. If its been listed for two months and had no hits, you have two options.

1) lower the price a few hundred and relist. Repeat until sold.
2) hold onto it until spring when the demand is higher

New owners don't want to assume the winterizing task and find a place to keep it over the winter.

Are you willing to take prospective buyers on a test drive? Is that specified in your ads?

ive seen your boat on cincy clist. its good looking and i think you can get that sold come spring.

me too. I'm in the < $1500 bracket for boat right now. If my budget allowed, I'd be all over it at that asking price. I'd assume you'd let it go for a bit less through regular negotiation, but I wouldn't expect too much less for a boat that nice.

Good luck!

At a boat show, yours would be the first boat sold.

Timing just ain't right for sales, now.

Good luck!

I fail to see how any of this stuff would add to the value of a boat. This is all stuff you would expect to be in good condition anyway and deduct value for if was not in good condition. Without this stuff in good condition you have a fixer upper regardless of how she looks, which BTW is awesome. But 1987? It's still and old boat.

Kinda like saying, Hey the motor runs.

new impeller
New bellows
New gimbal
New trim sensors
new lower shift cable
rebuilt carb
new prop

Check around the site for winterization and you will find it's easy to do and is no where near $200 to do. Pull a few plugs to drain it. Splash a little antifreeze in a few spots. Some fuel stabilizer and unhook the battery. Done. Sumerization is free.Take the $375 you just saved and take the wife out for a romantic getaway for a couple of days. Way better mileage for your buck.

What a great boat. By the way, I'd pay zero attention to NADA. My boat is listed for about a third of what I paid for it and I was lucky to get it here. All pricing is local.

On another note, buy the bargain at the boat show anyway. When you sell this one you can pay your loan down.

X2 Nada on the NADA...... Between snowmobiles trucks and boats I believe they list stuff way to low...Like I said before its that small size that would hold me back. It looks like there is hardly room for a cooler . But I sure do appreciate a well kept older vehicle..And that is 4 sure all that!!!
I sure hope you find a good home for it. Its real purdy!!!!:):D
