Spend your money, take your chances.

If you want a running boat, it's going to cost a bit more than $250. As far as being "ripped off", only if someone is holding a gun to your head. :D

If you watch craigslist close and you are willing to wait you can find some awesome deals.

I found my boat in craigslist for $400 Boat, motor, and trailer. Granted I took risks when I went to buy it. I was unable to here the motor run first. But the boat was very solid.

I got about 1 season out of the motor and then I decided to upgrade. $350 for an 80 hp mercury. This winter I am giving the boat a complete overhaul. All in all I would say I will have about $1,000 im my boat but it will be like new when I am done. All new interior, floor, wireing, seats, stereo, and motor.

My advice don't be affraid to wait for the right boat. Just because it is $250 does not make it the right boat.

Good Luck

Hang on Sloopy, Sloopy hang on.

The folks arguing about this not being a rip off are correct that someone who needed a trailer or some other parts from the boat might find this to be a good deal. If you are buying this to go boating, look elsewhere. This boat will probably never see the lake again.

I haven't read the replies above, but from your post and pictures I would classify that as a "haul away free" boat.

On the seaside of the Eastern Shore, the marshes get swept by northeasters. Some guys get free boats like that one, put in up on the marsh, plug out (so rain water will drain) and brush it. A flood tide will fill it and it will stay put. If a storm tide takes it, no loss--and someone who finds it will do the same with it. If it doesn't wash away, leave it for next year or, at the end of the season, plug it and tow it home.

These storms can move a beach house several miles, so sometimes you find the boat but usually not. Maybe not the most environmentally correct but that's how it's done. Just a form of recycling.

Run, don't walk away from that boat.

Columbus in what state? If Ohio go to http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/. Become a member, it's free, go to "OGF Marketplace". You'll find used boats for sale from local people at reasonable prices. I got the boat in my avatar for $300.00. I had to do lots of minor work to it but $300.00 & now runs great.

I really doubt the OP is coming back. He posted twice the day this thread started and he hasn't been back since.
