i have a 2005 glastron sx175 bowrider, and i need to remove the rub rail insert, its been pushed in, in a couple of areas

while doing the left hand side i also un screwed the rigged rub rail base, and saw that the deck is only screwed to the hull, there doesn't appear to be any backing board for the screws to attach to, although the rub rail also aids in holding it all together

im not a great fan of the white silicone on the upper and lower sides of the rub rail sealing it so ive decided to

remove the rub rail and use sikaflex, squirt it up between the two surfaces, Deck to hull overlap joint, and then reinstall the rigid rub rail re sealing the screws as i go. then re insert the flexible part, but now not have to use white silicone to seal the rub rail to the hull

as the sikaflex will seal the deck to the hull as well as strengthening the joint,

what do you reckon, sound like a plan.
