amplifier question

I have a 1972-85hp rude will this amplifier work?

THIS AMPLIFIER IS IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. CAME OFF A 1970 55 HP 3-CYLINDER ENGINE. I DO NOT KNOW THE PART NUMBER.

I dont know of any 70 55 hp, are you positive on the year/hp combo?

I believe in that time frame the 55's were only made from 68 to 69, then 76 to 79. Quite possible he is mistaken, and the motor is in fact a 68 or 69. Even if the motor is a 68 or 69 55 hp, the part numbers are different from your 72 85 hp, although that is not to say that it wont work. Those amp assemblies are quite expensive arent they. What is the ad asking for the unit?

That is what the add said. It looks just like mine. I went ahead and bought it for 35 dollars. I believe it will work as i do not see how it would matter if it is a three cylinder as the way i figure it it is still going to be sending the amps to the points. Hope I am not wrong. They go for over two hundred if you buy them new
