An Annoying Feature of This Site?

Is it just me, or do others have this problem? I log in, compose a message, attempt to submit the message, and find that I've somehow been "timed out" and have to log in again before the message will post. I do spend some time composing my messages, to make them as coherent and relevant as possible, but it seems like not enough time is allowed before the "time out." A couple of times I've actually lost the text that I'd carefully composed when attempting to re-log in - very annoying.

Is there a fix or work-around for us older, slower types? I guess I could compose off-line and paste into the message.

Yes. When you log in, click the check box next to Remember Me.

That is what I have done and never had a problem.

I have heard some will compose their message in a word processing document then copy and paste to avoid the possible losing of a reply also.

When I stop typing ( two finger peck ) for just a couple of secounds, there is a little icon that comes on, and says saved. I pulled the cord out by accident - the battery is dead - everything went dark. I thought damm I got to re-write all of that, but when I plugged it back in everything popped back up.

I'm using explorer. It actually says "auto save" My brother just gave me this laptop but chrome is installed on it too. I'm not very computer savy.

You have your settings such that Iboats is able to leave cookies on your computer. I won't let websites leave cookies, though it seems to upset some sites. If I click remember me, it remembers only until I close the internet. Next time, I have to click remember me again. It does seem to help, but not always. I've started to compose or save a temporary copy of my posts in Word, then if I get kicked out, I haven't lost the post. - Grandad
