The CRTC here in Canada has determined that after September 1 2011, all tv & radio stations must stop broadcasting in analog and only in digital. I have an antenna on my boat that is only god for analog so I must change.

I have a Bell ExpressVu dish and receiver but have no idea how to set it up. The one on my house is static, always facing the equator and therefore I assumed that is true with all dishes.....that is until I started taking note this summer and noticed lots of dishes on boats.

So how do I set it up, or where do I go for help and advice.?

You don't need a dish to pick up local stations that are broadcasting digital.

The antenna doesn't care whether the signal it's receiving is analog or digital. As long as the receiver is digital, you're good to go.

The states changed over about a year ago. Now I have a pile of analog tv's with no home.

Check out your local camping store (Camping World.) They can set you up with a pay as you use plan with an outfit like Dish TV or Satellite dish. I use the setup when camping and only pay for the time used.

Re: Analog to digital

One of the new scams. All TV transmission in the States with some minor exceptions has gone digital. There is no such thing as a digital, or HD antenna. Antennas are designed for frequency, they don't care what is being transmitted. Its unfortunate that manufactures can halfway lie and say that there antenna, CAT5 cable, HDMI cable or whatever is HD or digital ready. That being said most if not all stations are transmitting in the UHF band now and if not switched over will. As far as the radio is concerned yes there are many stations that are ALSO transmitting in digital. Its only a matter of time before that changed happens. Its really nice to get CD quality over the air.

The BIG advantage to the new UHF-digital transmission is the wavelength is much shorter so the antennas do not have to be nearly as large. And with digital it either locks in or it doesn't, no snow. If you have a TV without a digital tuner you can buy for 30 bucks a digital receiver.
