Hey guys/gals,<br />I have an ancient 1 cylinder Johnson model 100, 1.7 hp outboard. Want to do a rull restoration. It is missing the coil and coil heels, which produce spark from the spinning flywheel. I have a line on an actual NOS coil, but still need the coil heels. Anyone know of a place in the U.S. that specializes in really old Johnsons? Marina, bone yard, collector, etc.? Any input appreciated.

Hi, Tim.<br /><br />Your model 100 is a 1936 model.<br /><br />It was oversquare, with a 2" bore and 1.5" stroke and developed 1.7HP at 3300rpm.<br /><br />Spark plug is a Champion J8C (formerly J8-J) gapped at .030" and the points are set at .020".<br /><br />The 2"x1.5" single cylinder configuration appeared first in 1922 in the model A in 2HP and continued in use in various models from 1.5 to 3.3HP until 1937 as the 1.7HP model 110 and 3.3HP model 210.<br /><br />Enjoy your antique.

Thanks guys. Believe it or not, I have a line on a NOS coil. That's the next step. Then I have to figure out how to make heels for the coil to slip right up next to the inside of the flywheel. Meantime, it all comes apart for stripping, painting, etc. Should be an interesting restore.
