Hi Gang,

My boat is a 2003 Key West Center console with smart tabs, the engine is a Yamaha 2003 115trd 2 stroke. My current prop is a Stiletto Stainless Steel Advantage 1 13-1/4" x 19"P has a good hole-shot, and it gives me a perfect WOT range of 54-5500 rpm with 2 on board 1/2 tank fuel (~ 17gal) and our gear... I hit 44.6 mph GPS trimmed up... That's flying in a small boat! Over the weekend I had 4 on-board and noticed lack of hole-shot, ventilation in turns, and some other small issues... So I'd like to get a 4 blade prop to compensate, as top speed isn't really a concern of mine, and I'd rather have a better holeshot, and mid-range. The prop I'm thinking of purchasing is the Stiletto Stainless Steel Bay Pro 1 13-1/4 x 18"P, I think the extra surface area of the 4 blade will reduce rpm by at least 2-300, and the pitch reduction by 1-2" should put me into the correct WOT range. Am I in the ball park with my thoughts?

If anyone has other props in mind on similar set-ups, I'm open to other vendors...

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you did your homework. Just might have to watch your rpms with a light load. Don't know about a Yammie, but I run my Mercs up to and including 6k rpm even though they are listed to run 5k to 5.5k.

Id be concerned on the qualitiy's of the Stilletto. They have a lot of lift.. semi-v bottom boat might get a little bouncy..actually a lot. The pitch seems right im sure you will have to lift the engine...PM Dhadley and try to get his input...You could turn that boat into a porpise monster...

Re: Another 3 blade to 4 blade conversion

Finally had some time to test the Bay Pro I

Fist off the 1720 leaps on plane instantly... WOW! super cool! It also carves turns way better than the 3 blade 19" P, with no cavitation, or ventilation...

I was able to get 5300 rpm at WOT and 40-41 mph GPS fully trimmed... Since my 115 is mounted on the top hole, I'll next try changing the x dimension and start raising the engine one hole at a time testing as I go... I'm sure by raising the Yamaha, I'll be able to see 5500 rpm easy, and the drag reduction will maybe give me 1-2 mph back.... Great prop for my combo, and I just can't say enough about this little Key West boat! The boat is awesome!

I'll post results from raising engine ASAP, hopefully before it snows.... =-(
