Planning on going after a leak in my timing cover on my 2005 Sea Ray 185 with a 4.3. Recently had the engine rebuilt and guess they didn't get it sealed well. I'm going to pull the engine and replace the oil pan pan gasket while I'm at it and the timing chain cover and gaskets. Question I have is any recommendations on covers, seems to be lots out there. U got with OEM when I can, however seems a bit high for a plastic cover. On the other hand I don't want to be doing this again. Any good or bad experiences with aftermarket timing covers and any recommendations are appreciated as well as what sealant you use, thanks in advance

Thanks for that, Archi referenced 2005-2006 sump molds, should be okay, the core I got rebuilt was from a 1999 4.3 I bought and had rebuilt. I will pay close attention looking for gaps as I reassemble and plan on running it out of the boat to look for any leaks. Guess the implication is to buy a Chevy OEM cover?
