Well, I was going to come on and post my normal funnies this am, but I sure don't feel like it now.

I have a early morning 5 hour run I make ever day, but this am was the bust to say the least.

I held a young woman in my arms and watched her die.

That sucks because there was nothing I could do.

Rain and high water made her hydroplane into a tree head on with no good outcome forseeable.

major head trama and internal injuries done her in while I held her waiting on the emt's to get there.

They arrived about 20 minutes too late.

That's all for today.
Say some prayers for her.

I don't even know what her name was.

So sad.
I am really quite shaken up, but wife has assured me that there was nothing I could have done anyway.

Have a good day fellows and ladies.

I'm sure your comforting her in her last moments made the best of an impossible situation. Don't let this get to you. Unfortunately, this happens all the time. Be grateful God allowed you to do all you could do, as you surely did. You didn't ignore the situation.

Prayers to her, her family and you. You need to cope with this, but don't let it interfere with your life too much... let it go.

I will say a prayer for her and hers, but I also will say a prayer for you SBN. Find peace in the fact you were able to be there for a stranger in their time of need.

I know how you feel Spinner..Many times I have sat in the back of a squad knowing there was no hope..Sometimes all you can do is hold a cold hand or watch as life is released through their eyes..It takes a special person to be able to deal with that..We can't pick the time or place where life ceases..You did good my friend and the family to will appreciate it knowing their loved one had someone there in the last moments..

Sad day for sure, SBN. :(

We all go eventually. It is a hard thing to watch someone go so early.

You did all you could do. Perhaps you made it easier on her to not be alone in those last moments.

You did all you could do, and you were there for that very reason. Keep your head high, my prayers man.

Never easy Spinner....even when your trying to do a job and stay detached from the situation. Been there a few times. Take comfort in knowing you did all you could do....even though it didn't seem like much at the time...it was a lot.

Prayers for you and the young lady.

SBN , What every one else has said..

Through our lives we are making ourselves ready
for another birth. Look forward with out fear to
that apointed hour, the last day of the body but
not of the soul. That day wich you fear as being
the end of all things, is the birthday of your
eternity.

SENECA.

I always found comfort in that saying, so I
thought I should share it with you.

peace to you...

Re: Another bad day

SBN, take comfort in knowing you were there and she didn't die alone. That in and of itself means alot, that someone was tehre to help carry the fear and pain.

I know from experience as I have been in 3 similar situations in the last 5 years. None were easy. In one case thet accident victim didn't make it, in another accident I came upon the woman did survive, and in the third, I was able to pull some guys from the lake whose boat had gone down in really foul weather (no one should have been out that day, but i was and happened by as the boat started going down and they couldn't get to their life jackets).

The look on the first guys face that didn't make it was one I will never forget. I have much respect for those who work in professions where these occurances are often. It's not something I think I could deal with that often.

OMG Spinner, I'm sorry I didn't read this thread until just now.

As all else have said, she did not die alone. You provided her warmth and comfort in her final moments. It would be nice if we are all that lucky when our day comes.

You were there when no one else could be. I know that she and her family are eternally grateful.

God Bless You.
