Reuters withdraws photograph of Beirut after Air Force attack after US blogs, photographers point out 'blatant evidence of manipulation.' Reuters' head of PR says in response, 'Reuters has suspended photographer until investigations are completed into changes made to photograph.' Thanks for the info Feetz.

But you and I both know that it won't matter.

Certain folks will now say that GWB manipulated the retraction of the manipulated photos and reports.

That s old news heres another blatant example of manipulation of the media.

. Published: November 12, 2002

A New York Times reporter was told by the Administration that Iraq was buying excess quantities of atropine to get ready for chemical warfare. It turns out the quantities were consistent with the Iraq use of the substance for routing medical purposes.

Iraq has ordered large quantities of a drug that can be used to counter the effects of nerve gas, mainly from suppliers in Turkey, which is being pressed to stop the sales, according to senior Bush administration officials.

Re: Another example of ALmedia propaganda gone wrong

Treedancer,

What does this have to do with the fact Reuters didn't check their facts, used what appears to be an unreliable source, and has perhaps done so in the past, and because of this may have enflamed a condition that could result in the loss of life. Remember the Koran story in Newsweek?

What does this have to do with Bush administration?

How does what the adminstration says have to do with the responsibility that the media claims to take very seriously. Accuracy above everything, or fanning the flames in a war? They are not suppose to care who wins, they are to report the news, not create it.

GW has nothing to do with this, nor does Hillary, Kerry, Kennedy or anyone else in our country.

I think rodbolt has it right. Just watch the "real news" from outside of America, that's the stuff you can trust . . . There are no ulterior motives or political beliefs that affect news from elsewhere. We're the only ones who would do something like that. And why? Because Haliburton would get a bigger clean up contract if we think the clean up job is bigger. What else could it be?

I think what it ultimately shows is getting your news from a sole source can be a dangerous thing if your goal is to be informed

"Certain folks will now say that GWB manipulated the retraction of the manipulated photos and reports. "

No matter what, only you can lay claim to saying it first. Sensationalizing lib/dem claims does not make them any more or less true.

I WAS being sacastic. However, the LEFT was more than happy at the time of the photos release to politicize the event and blame GW.

Funny, no condemnation from the left for this fabrication. Just rationalizations.

Note: It is ok to condem lies. Really.

Those bastards! Manipulating news photos is lying and deceit! Who do they think they are, politicians? I hope that photographer gets fired (though things like this should be considered a crime).

Re: Another example of ALmedia propaganda gone wrong

Well, ok, I will condemn any fabrication. It *IS* wrong! And unprofessional, on any side of the political spectrum.

I don't really think the reality of the situation benefits from embellishment, anyway. What's the real difference whether it was 27 or 50 innocent victims (or whatever the numbers were).

It's too many in either case.

What does it prove, anyway? You think *right* leaning journalists always tell the precise truth, and always have the facts absolute?

My experience is that most legitimate journalists try to have their stories interesting and factual. Are you suggesting this bombing in Qana never happended, or is it just some of the details were incorrect?

(Edit: Rueters fired the guy, and he will have a tough time finding work as a photo journalist in the future, which is as it should be)

In keeping with the "kinder gentler" forum I have not commented on this subject. Even now I only have a question: What publication does any *right* leaning journalists work for? I can't say that I've ever read any *right* leaning pieces in major publications.

Um...any and all things published by Fox News, The White House, and Christian fundamentalists.

A lot of these "organizations" have regular publications:

Here's a list of some based in the UK:
