Another fish finder question

Its a lowrance, model # eludes me but I dont think it matters as I just havea question about what might cause a problem like mine. Just started it up this spring, (after sitting in the house all winter), and it has lines going top to bottom all the way accross the screen, pretty solid, a few gaps, I can still make out the screen behind it here and there, is it the LCD, or do you think its the transducer which was replaced last year. Transducer is clean and aligned properly.

i have/had the same problem with my old lowrance x68 (i think?). i'm selling it with my boat, so i don't care to fix it and was going to replace the whole unit if i kept the boat anyway.<br /><br />based on my condition, i figured it was one of two things- transducer dirty (i had some growth from sitting in the water) or bad connection along the line (some corrosion at the unit itself). if your transducer is clean, i'd check where you plug in. may have to hit it with some contact cleaner.

I do not think it is transducer related at all. If it was a transducer problem then the pattern would scroll acrossed the screen. To test change stop the screen from scrolling, this will stop the transducer from pinging. My quess is it is the LCD connections.<br /><br />Try gently pushing on the LCD screen around the edges and see if It makes a difference.<br /><br />Also before I gave up and opened the case to check connection inside I would reset to factory defaults.<br /><br />If you turn on a data row like Voltage, Temperature, and Speed does that part of the screen mess up as well?
