Another LU question

Hello,
Today I acquired a lower unit from a friend who got a new motor. He had it as a spare for his 89 Force 150. The lower unit is good shape(better than mine) . The only problem is that my motor is a single exhaust, and the acquired LU is a dual exhaust. I read Frank's post, he wrote back in June. Now I am seriously considering just leaving mine on. All the ventilation problems in rough waters and upon turning, isn't worth a few more mph. Am I making the right decision?

This is a photo of the lower unit I got today. At the blue arrow it seems that something is missing. Does anyone know if something should go in that space or be left empty?

Thanks,
Tom

Engines react differently on different hulls. Im not sure if you can see it in these photos, but the engine on my Glastron is jacked one inch higher on the transom and while a single exhaust does not seem to mind, the dual exhaust does seem to give problems.

Just because the dual exhaust gives me problems on this hull does not automatically mean it will ventilate more on yours. I post these results so that others have a reference IF they have a problem.

Given that it only takes about an hour to switch lower units, try it. What's the worst that can happen? You don't like it and switch back.

Re: Another LU question

Are there any modifations or anything I should be aware of? It looks the same as my other one, so it should just bolt right up.
Thank you for the replies.

Re: Another LU question

Make sur ethe exhaust passages are the same.
Look TOP DOWN into the drive and compare side by side.
