I know one of you PC gurus will have a fix for this. My pc won't play videos off websites. I get a message "Click here to install the following ActiveX control:'Adobe Flash Player' from 'Adobe Systems Incorporated'.
If I click to do the download, it still doesn't work. Thanks for help in advance.

Are you saying the download won't work or the player still won't work?
What happens when you click to install the download?

Re: another pc problem

The downloads seem to run, but in the end the videos don't play. Especially videos on "youtube". Does this help?

Seems we posted at the same time. Try the link and see if it works.

Plansman, I tried your link. When I went to download it I got the same long "Click here....." message.

So if you follow the link and click Install, what happens?

Turn off your popup blocker and try again. I just went through the install. Have you checked the settings I suggested?

Re: another pc problem

Plainsman, I've tried to install it several times. I get a message something about "Install ActiveX....". I'll click it and something seems to install, but when I go to view videos on youtube I get the message to install Media something or another. Sorry, I didn't copy it down.

Pop up blocker was off. What should the settings be under tools..internet options...security?

Re: another pc problem

This may sound silly, but are you running Vista? I've run into this problem at work and fixed it by using the instructions I found on an Adobe forum:

First, make your way here:
C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash

Then right click over both 'Flash9b.ocx' and 'FlashUtil9b.exe', and chose properties.

In properties choose the 'security' tab > Click on the 'everyone' account, and the button called 'edit' and then tick the box called 'allow full control' and also choose your own Windows local account name.

Once you have done this for both files run the FlashUtil9b.exe and it should install and update and tell you to restart. Do so and you should find that YouTube and other sites that use flash now work.

- I followed these instructions and fixed the Youtube issue that the owner was having. Give it a shot if you have Vista, or if you are running IE7, or even if you are doing neither of those. Good Luck!

I could be stating the obvious but when you start, IE may block it. There will be a little beige strip appear at the top just under the toolbar. You have to right click that and allow the software to install. I just wanted to make sure that's covered because it stumps people all the time.

Re: another pc problem

Sorry...had to run out last night.
Plainsman- my setting appear to be similar to yours. Not exactly the same we may be running different versions. Mine is 6.0.290.....
i338- I've seen that yellow bar and pressed 'click' as instructed. Still no good.
Looks like time to call Bill Gates again. He's helped out several times in the past.
I'll try to post back if I understand what he does to fix it.
Thanks to all.

Been working with Bill Gates from 9:05 am ET. It's now 12:40 pm ET, they're still working on it. I'll keep you posted.

Re: another pc problem

Finally got it fixed about 6:30 pm last night. Don't ask me what Microsoft did but it took them ALL day long. There was something wrong in the "registry" files or something.
Thanks to all who tried to help, but this was WAY over my head.
