That's awesome that you have a new dog! I love labs, my family has always had labs. Right now we have two a yellow, and a black. They are such good tempered dogs great around the kids too!

A sad day for your family for sure, but imagine the joy the real owners of that lost dog are feeling. Every attempt should be made to find the rightful owners of any stray dog before claiming them for their own.

For sure.........

If you really want another pet, go to the local shelter. Your family will fall in love all over again.......

+1, go and get a pound puppy for your self and family, we've gotten two over the years.
(save someone from getting Euthinized)
And on a positive note, I bet the people that lost the lab in the first place are really happy to get it back!

I hope they're happy. I have never went and bought or picked out a pet. All the dogs I've owned have been strays other than the ones my Dad had for hunting dogs(those were his dogs kept in a kennel) we weren't aloud to play with them, and for good reason some of them had less than desirable personalities but were damn good trackers.

What I did was surrender the dog to the pound, they kept her for 10 days while they looked for the owner (they found them) and after 10 days I could adopt her back from the pound. Funny thing is the adoption fee is cheaper than the cost of all the shots she got to get her on schedule, plus you get a free very visit usually. Anyway, at the very least my money helps support the shelter.
