Hey all, been checking here for info recently and decided to join. I'm restoring a 1966 Jupiter 17' with a 1983 Johnson 60 I picked up for $400.

Thanks Jasoutside, gonna try to get some pics on today or tomorrow. I'm posting on my phone now and I'm not quite sure how to upload pics. Maybe it will be more evident on my laptop.

IMHO best way is to host your pics on photobucket or equivalent and then link them in your posts.

Use photobucket. Just copy the IMG and paste it into your post. Pics come out sized perfect for viewing.

Welcome to the tin shed Fever. You'll find most of us friendly despite the Angry Mob being a prominent feature of the Starcraft and other tin boat resto threads!

After you upload to Photobucket, in your album, mouse over the thumbnail & a list of 4 options appears underneath. Just click on the IMG one and the link is copied; then just paste it into the body of your post.

Re: Another Starcraft addict born

Well I managed to get a few pics on photobucket, I'll post when I get on my laptop next time, I don't think I can do that from my phone. The transom in all ready for reassembling just waiting for weather to cooperate. I used 2, 3/4" pieces of AC plywood laminated with loctite pc3, then 4 coats of Rustoleum. I also made the outer transom wood 3/4" instead of 1/2'. Using all original hardware as its stainless and cleaned up nice. Transom hull stripped with aircraft stripper and primed with self-etching primer and 2 coats Rustoleum, all info I got from here. For an angry mob you guys are pretty smart, lol.

Your outer transom plate, howdya seal that up?

FYI, a great place for water to hang out and cause wood rot is in between the outer plate and transom skin.

For an angry mob you guys are pretty smart, lol.

This point could easily be argued:rolleyes:

Good point on the outer transom wood. I put 4 coats of Rustoleum in it too. I was gonna seal around bolt holes then around perimeter with 5200 before and after attaching it.

Just wondering here...has anyone use aluminum diamond plate instead of plywood for their floor? Curious as to weight comparison between 1/4" plate and 3/4" plywood. Even if it was a little heavier the boat is light to begin with...plus I love overdoing things, lol.

I think I'm getting the hang off this! Not to bad for $400.

That diamond plate looks pretty cool! I laughed my @ss off over the "warning, flotation debate" bit. I think I'll start saving my foam coffee cups from Dunkin Donuts for my flotation, LOL
