Re: Another thread got me thinking

They have tried that in some of the new home developments here in Montana, guess what, they didn't fly, those old farmers are tough and have some really mean lawyers, one HOA tried to enforce their rules and ended up in court and the court found in the farmers favor. Then the old farmer took the HOA to court due to stress and some other things, he won and the HOA ended up paying him close to a quarter of a million dollars.

Thats just sad,its shows a lot about your neighbours though...
Its incredible how people just dont talk to each other anymore,
And you guys are one of the first original habitants on top of it all? Crazy!
If you were a hoarder and have crap all over your lawn I could understand this but a boat ??
We in the caribbean luckely dont have all these narrowminded and restricted laws. Hell,Most of the people I know have boats all over THEIR lawn..
I could never live in a city I guess..
Good luck.

My brother inlaw lives in one of the no boat, camper, trailer,or pretty much any thing fun neigborhoods.

The day I showed up in a 36'rv pulling the boat to pick his kids up(same age as mine so they like to camp with us for some reason) was only there around 20min before the gastapo shows up with there threats.
Mind you I am legaly parked on a public street I have the police called on me for having all my junk on the street.

I used to live in small northern city. Theycouncil tried to pass a by-law where all RV's, boats , ATV had to have the front bumper past the plane of the front of the house. Mostresidents of this city had a fairly large annual income due to oil deposits at its front door, so just about everybody had some type of "toy". When council was about to vote on this by-law there was huge turn out by the residents. Before the vote it was announced by the spectators in the gallery that if the by-law went through NONE of the council members would see the inside of the chambers after the next election. Except as visitors. The by-law was unanimously voted down.

A side note to this was that fact that one of the councillors owned a storage lot and stood to make huge profits because none fo the new houses being built to support the boom had access to the back yards.

Maybe you could rally some friends and do something similar. It sounds like you already have at least a few allies. Namely your gf's parents and your own dad.

I think I would have to paint my house hot pink with a neon green trim. Bet the neighbors would love that.

A New York State Trooper really told you to "Get those pieces of crap" out of the driveway?

It was actually one of the neighbors that came to the door who said that. The Trooper was a friend of another neighbor(otherwise a Trooper never would have been the responder to the call), but he was nice to me(once he knew who my Mom was), and told me I'd be fine as long as I wasn't staying the night.

Drive around your gf's neighborhood at 2mph towing your boat, at night with your headlights on and stereo playing. Do this until they promise not to enact the new law. :D

Well, I've got a couple of acres. I own two boats but there are four on my land because a relative and a friend can't keep their boats in their driveways or yards (in Delaware, USofA).

We have storage yards miles from the sea with boats sitting because people can't keep them at home... and some of these homes are practically on the water. Imagine having a boat ramp 1 mile from your driveway but your boat is 10 miles away because people don't want your boat in your driveway. Repeating that scares me: people don't want your boat in your driveway.

Be careful where you move. I am so glad I don't live in one of those communities.

id go to court......play the "global warming" card!! in case of flash flooding, the boat in your driveway could be your lifeline! PPE! ( personal protective equipment)
